‘Cause I Can

Instead of using a random word generator to inspire this blog, I thought I’d use a random name generator.

R.N.G says Leonardo

The obviously choice here would be Leonardo DiCaprio..or even Leonardo DaVinci, but I’m going to go totally off that train of thought.

The name Leonardo makes me think of period dramas, with all those posh men and women dressed up in fancy clothes, strutting around as if they’re Verka. Then, from the thought of Period Dramas I think of Vanity Fair just because that’s a period drama I’ve seen.

Vanity Fair reminds of a programme that was aired on T4 at the beginning of the year, called Vanity Lair. I know that  Fraz saw a few, but if anyone else is reading this who doesn’t know what it is, I’ll fill you in.

Basically, there were a bunch of young people (around 18 to late 20s) who all thought they were Beautiful People. Every week, 3 more people who were convinced they were Beautiful People. The originals had to get rid of one of them, purely based on first impressions. Then, the remaining two would spend a few days with the rest, and then at the end of the week the originals would have to pick the one they rated as the most beautiful who would then stay on as a Beautiful Person, but they would  then have to chose a person that they would replace (based on how beautiful they thought they were….All tactics really).  This went on for a few weeks, until there were loads of people who were convinced they were beautiful. The end show saw all of them rate each other out of 10, and then the one who received the highest, won the whole show. (If anyone’s interested, my favourite one won the show.. he was the guy who wore hats and string round his wrist. He was a dude).

Apparently, the main aim of the programme was to find out what is beauty? Each week the people in the house would be tested on things such as their sense of humour, intelligence, physical fitness… at then they would discuss if they thought that any of those factors were important when judging someone’s beauty.

Most weeks saw them reaching the conclusion that the only thing that mattered was how people looked. At the end, a few of them realised that there was more to people than what was on the surface.

The whole show was quite weird really, but strangely addictive. It made me question what I think beauty is. Are the people who I find to be attractive just good looking, or is there more to them? Am I incredibly shallow, or deep?

I like to think it’s a bit of both. I love a person to be clever, with an amazing sense of humour. Personally, I don’t care about physical fitness (look at me). They’ve gotta be friendly, trusting and loving.

Looks wise; I judge a person on their appearences, if I’m watching tv or walking down the street. I’ll think “ooh he’s wearing a hat!” orr “oof he has long hair” but if I’m going to talk to someone, I’ll wait till I know them to figure out what I think about them.

I read a good quote once; How can someone with such a pretty face, be so ugly?

So there you have it; I can go from the name Leonardo, to the above quote.

Wahey.

  1. Fraz said,

If I’m honest, the most beautiful person there was the presenter, Alexa Chung. Bit of oof she is. And they couldn’t get rid of her. Haha.

And the other day, me and Mum wrote all over an old ice cream tub that is used as our food recycling bin, in permanent marker. It was great, and Dad was totally bemused.
